Simply put, the temple will be for those who don't believe God's Son as their savior. Hence the orthodox Jews. They don't know any better, so, what are they supposed to do, they don't believe in Jesus, so what are they waiting for? Their Messiah. They believe they need their temple so they will get one. As per Daniel 9:27 After being built God will allow it to be destroyed so now, they have a chose. Or! time to make up their mind, believe or not. In laymen terms, make it or break it time. 
Daniel 9:27 27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. KJV
