In a respond to a series of devastating attacks on the Lebanese militant group, and according to Hezbollah people familiar with the group’s deliberations there is no good options available, the group faces one of the most consequential decisions in its four-decade history.
Hezbollah fired its first long range missile at the commercial capital of Tel Aviv on Wednesday, its boldest response yet, potentially triggering a full-scale war, or hold back and risk diminishing its reputation as one of the fiercest fighting forces in the Middle East.
A full-scale war, such as the one Hezbollah fought with Israel in 2006, would likely be devastating for Lebanon, exacerbating its economic crisis and eroding Hezbollah’s support among the population. Still, if the group doesn’t respond in kind to the recent attacks, it could undermine the deterrence that Hezbollah spent decades building against Israel, largely with military and financial help from Iran.
Israel says the recent attacks were aimed at stopping Hezbollah strikes that have continued for nearly a year and not allowing Israelis to return to parts of northern Israel.
Noting Tehran hasn’t stepped in to support its Lebanese ally as of yet. The reason may be Iran still negotiating nuclear talks. (Another topic for later.)
Hezbollah fired tactical surface-to-surface rockets, known as Fadi, with a range of up to 65 miles, into Israeli territory as it has yet to deploy its most-advanced weapons, this causing Israel to call up reservist and supposes a ground invasion. A large up-tick in military maneuvering.
Here’s the problem, Hezbollah has attached itself to the Gaza war, they won’t stop firing missiles until Israel surrenders and of course Israel is winning and has refused to halt its attacks, Hezbollah won't stop until there at least a cease-fire in Gaza, an ultimatum that has now backed them it into a corner, to agree to a cease fire Hezbollah must disconnect from the Gaza war.
My point, Hezbollah’s decision in the coming days could have momentous consequences for its future from a biblical standpoint. If Hezbollah stands down with a temporary cease fire would Israel be saying Peace and Safety, if so, this is scripture. Remembering this is only temporary, could God step in with a sudden destruction?
1 Thessalonians 5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
KJV
Yes, very possible.
